Overlay ads on India CTV are available primarily on JioHotstar and Samsung Ads. JioHotstar supports L-banner overlays and lower-third overlays during live sports content — these run during play, not during ad breaks, allowing brand presence while the match is active. L-banners occupy the bottom and left of the screen in an L-shape; lower-thirds are a horizontal strip at the bottom. These are direct deal only, sold as package add-ons to standard pre-roll buys. CPMs: Rs 300-500 equivalent for live sports overlays.
Samsung Ads home screen banners are a different overlay type — they appear on the Samsung Smart Hub home screen before any streaming app opens, not during content. This is the most premium display placement on Samsung TVs. YouTube CTV does not support overlays in the traditional sense — companion banners are available on desktop YouTube but not in the CTV app environment. SonyLIV and Zee5 offer overlay formats on a case-by-case basis for large direct deals. For most India CTV advertisers, JioHotstar live sports overlays and Samsung Ads home screen are the two meaningful overlay options.
