FAQ · CTV Basics

Which CTV devices are most popular in India?

Android TV smart TVs are the most widely deployed CTV device in India. Brands including TCL, Sony Bravia, Xiaomi, OnePlus, iFFALCON, and Realme all ship Android TV sets. Entry-level Android TV panels start under Rs 15,000, making it the default OS across budget and mid-market TV purchases. Newer premium models from Sony and TCL are transitioning to Google TV — the updated interface built on the same Android TV platform.

Amazon Fire TV Stick is India's most popular streaming stick. Priced at Rs 1,999–3,999 (Lite / standard / 4K models), it is regularly discounted during Amazon sale events. It turns any TV with an HDMI port into a CTV device and supports all major India streaming apps — JioCinema, Hotstar, YouTube, SonyLIV, Zee5. Its low price makes it the most accessible CTV entry point available.

Samsung smart TVs (running Tizen OS) and LG smart TVs (running webOS) dominate the premium segment — Rs 30,000 and above. Their share of the overall smart TV installed base is smaller than Android TV, but they are disproportionately represented in high-income, urban households with strong purchasing power.

Jio STB — distributed as part of JioFiber broadband packages — is a meaningful but undercounted CTV device. It runs Android TV and enables JioCinema and other streaming apps. Its footprint in broadband-first households adds to the Android TV total but is not always captured in device share estimates.

For media planning purposes: Android TV / Google TV is the primary CTV reach vehicle in India. Fire TV Stick adds incremental reach and Amazon's data layer. Samsung and LG cover the premium segment with ACR targeting capabilities not available on Android TV.
